@4DOCTOR WHO U.S. MARATHON
========================
@1
Destination: Boynton Beach
WXEL-TV42 in Boynton Beach (which serves most of South Florida) is
going to bring back "Doctor Who". They need $5000 to do it, so
naturally the call went out to the Guardians of Gallifrey and the on-
air-talent of Charles Martin. Producer T.J. Lubinsky has brought in
Sgt. Benton himself (John Levene, aka John Anthony Blake) to co-host
with Charles.
This is not a typical fund-raising event as there will be a dealer's
room, filksinging, convention highlights on video, "Doctor Who" skits
and 10 half-hour regeneration episodes...
Episode 1 of "An UnEarthly Child" (William Hartnell)
Episode 10 of "The War Games" (Patrick Troughton)
Episode 1 of "Spearhead from Space" (Jon Pertwee)
Episode 6 of "Planet of the Spiders" (Jon Pertwee)
Episode 1 of "Robot" (Tom Baker)
Episode 4 of "Logopolis" (Tom Baker)
Episode 1 of "Castrovalva" (Peter Davison)
Episode 4 of "Caves of Androzani" (Peter Davison)
Episode 1 of "Twin Dilemma" (Colin Baker)
Episode 1 of "Time and the Rani" (Sylvester McCoy)
This event begins at 12 noon on Saturday, June 30, 1994 at the WXEL
studios. After the first few episodes a Q&A session will be held with
John Levene followed by live reports from the dealer's room, some
skits and Julia Langston will croon to John. The event should wrap up
between 6 and 7pm.
Special hotel rates are available for Friday and Saturday night that
weekend with the Holiday Inn Express. Only $39 per night for a room
that will sleep 4. Call the hotel at 407-734-9100 for reservations and
directions. Call WXEL at 1-800-464-9935 to reserve your seating at the
event or for dealer table information.
Be sure to ask for directions when calling the station and hotel. Tell
them the Guardians sent you.
